Cumming Group Acquires CapEX
New York – July 2019 – Cumming, a portfolio company of Tailwind Capital, announced its acquisition of Nashville-based CAPEX Project Management LLC (CapEX). This transaction represents Cumming’s fourth add-on acquisition since Tailwind acquired the company in October 2016. The merger allows Cumming to expand its expert resources throughout the Southeast and Central regions of the U.S. and enables it to continue to provide building consultancy and project management services to its growing client base.
CapEX provides project management services for developers, private equity investors, REITs, and government entities in one of the fastest growing U.S. metropolitan areas. CapEX is currently leading some of the most high-profile office, residential, hospitality and mixed-use projects under development in Nashville and is growing its presence throughout Texas, Louisiana, and neighboring states.

CapEX was founded in 2014 by senior real estate executive, Joe Saatkamp. Previously, Saatkamp led construction and design for Dallas-based TRT Holdings, owner of Omni Hotels and Gold’s Gym. During his years at TRT Holdings, Saatkamp completed numerous developments, acquisitions, and major renovation projects throughout the U.S. and Canada.
