Cumming Group Acquires PlanB Consultancy

New York – July 2020 – Cumming Group (“Cumming”), a portfolio company of Tailwind Capital, announced that it has acquired PlanB Consultancy (“PlanB”). Based in Portland, Oregon, PlanB focuses on providing value-added cost management and comprehensive quantity surveying services for some of the world’s most significant chip manufacturers and data centers, as well as numerous other high-tech facilities.

This transaction represents Cumming’s seventh add-on acquisition since Tailwind acquired the company in October 2016. PlanB further expands Cumming’s capabilities both throughout the Pacific Northwest and on an international level. Following this transaction, Cumming has more than 950 professionals across 30 U.S. offices, as well as five strategic international locations.

Derek Hutchison, President at Cumming, commented, ““PlanB’s strong quantity surveying and project controls focus aligns perfectly with Cumming’s capabilities and broadens our reach in this critical, high-growth sector. The natural cultural match with the PlanB team allows us to stay true to our core values while executing our robust long-term growth strategy.”

“Partnering with Cumming allows PlanB Consultancy to provide our current high-tech clients with additional specialized expertise through its dedicated team of mechanical, electrical, and other specialists, while at the same time providing our team members with new opportunities to expand their careers,” stated Euan Pollock, Managing Partner at PlanB Consultancy. “We have long held the belief that Cumming would be the ideal strategic partner based on our cultural alignment, the firm’s outstanding international reputation, and its focus on being a true owner’s advocate.”
